A U.S. Congressman who represents Indian River County in the House of Representatives announced he will not seek reelection.Bill Posey, a Republican, announced on April 26 that he will not seek reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives.“It has been the greatest honor of Katie’s and my life to represent you in Congress,” Posey said in a statement.During his statement, he endorsed former Florida State Senate President Mike Haridopolos to replace him in the House of Representatives.“Mike knows our district and has stayed involved at local, state, and federal levels. He is clearly the kind of representative we need in Congress, and I have no doubt he will excel in the job,” Posey said in a statement.Posey, who has been a member of Congress since 2009, represents Florida’s 8th Congressional district, which includes Indian River and Brevard counties along with a portion of east Orange County.Posey has represented Florida’s 8th Congressional District since 2013. Haridopolos, Joe Babits and John Hearton are the GOP candidates who have qualified to run for election for the seat.
