New Digital Platform for Iraq’s Government Contracts

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Dr. Mohammed Ali Tamim, chaired a high-level meeting today to review the operational mechanisms of the Ministry’s unified electronic platform for announcements and tenders. The session was attended by the Ministry’s two Undersecretaries, the Director General of the Government Contracts Department, and the Director of the Contracts Department.

Discussions focused on the platform’s role in streamlining procurement processes, including the mechanisms for advertising tenders, contract documentation, and government institution procurement—whether centrally managed or self-funded.

The unified electronic platform, the first of its kind in Iraq, is designed to enhance transparency and efficiency in government procurement. It provides a range of services, including publishing tender announcements, selling documents, archiving contracts, issuing purchase orders, and facilitating electronic procurement. Additionally, the platform serves as a hub for advertising government projects, including those funded through loans, grants, and investment opportunities.

The Ministry of Planning continues to push for digital transformation in public sector procurement, ensuring greater accessibility and accountability in government contracts and project management.
