Newmarket Links Golf Club’s Tyler Weaver triumphs at 2025 Cabo Collegiate event

The Links Golf Club is celebrating the achievement of one of its own, Tyler Weaver, after he emerged victorious at the 2025 Cabo Collegiate in a thrilling three-man finale.

With this win, the Florida State sophomore has earned an exemption on to the PGA Tour and will tee it up alongside some of the sport’s elite at the World Wide Technology Championship this November at El Cardonal in Mexico.

Weaver, who honed his craft at The Links on Newmarket’s Cambridge Road, edged out Oklahoma State’s Preston Stout and Arizona State’s Pongsapak Laopakdee on the third play-off hole.

Reflecting on his victory, Weaver said: “I’m over the moon with the win this week in one of the best fields in amateur golf.

“The course provided a great test, but I was able to control my ball well and made some good putts at the right time.”

Meanwhile, Links Golf Club manager Matt Hartley added: “We couldn’t be prouder of Tyler.

“He has worked tirelessly to reach this level, and seeing him take this step onto the PGA Tour is a huge moment for him and for all of us at the club.

“Tyler embodies the spirit and love for the game that we strive to instil in all of our young players.”

Weaver’s latest success has continued his rapid ascent in the golfing world, with previous accomplishments including victory in The Carris Trophy alongside being selected for the full England Men’s Golf Squad in 2024.
