Ben & Jerry’s launches new anti-Trump ice cream flavor

Burlington, Vermont-based ice cream company Ben & Jerry's released a brand-new, decidedly anti-Trump ice cream flavor Tuesday.

The new ice cream is called "Pecan Resist," and its aim is to promote peaceful anti-Trump activism in the United States.

What are the details?

The company shared a post on Facebook.

"Today we launch Pecan Resist! This flavor supports groups creating a more just and equitable nation for us all, and who are fighting President Trump’s regressive agenda," the post said.

"We cannot be silent in the face of the President's policies that attack and attempt to roll back decades of progress on racial and gender equity, climate change, LGBTQ rights, and refugee and immigrant rights — all issues that have been at the core of our social mission for 40 years," the ice cream maker continued.

On its website, Ben & Jerry's describes the product — which retails for $6.99 per pint — as "chocolate ice cream with white & dark fudge chunks, pecans, walnuts, and fudge-covered almonds."

The product's description reads, "This Limited Batch flavor packs a powerful message along with its abundant nutty chunks!

"Together, we can build a tomorrow that is safe and welcoming for all people and peacefully resist the Trump administration’s discriminatory policies," the description adds. "Pecan Resist supports four organizations that are working on the front lines of the peaceful resistance: Color of Change, Women's March, Neta, and Honor the Earth. Together, Pecan Resist!"

According to USA Today, the pint itself reads "Welcome to the resistance. Together, Pecan Resist!" and "We celebrate the diversity of our glorious nation & raise our spoons in solidarity for all Americans. Take a stand & join those on the front lines."

What else?

The outlet also reported that the ice cream organization intends to donate $25,000 to the above organizations.

The company announced the new flavor in the National Press Club's First Amendment Room in Washington, D.C., Tuesday.
